Dyslexia Screening Test – 2nd Edition DST-2 Kit

The Dyslexia Screening Test – 2nd Edition (DST-2) is an assessment designed for school professionals, for the potential identification of dyslexia and other learning difficulties. Please note: Dyslexia Screening Test – 2nd Edition (DST-2) will publish in 2023 and combines the DAST, DEST-2, DST-J, and DST-S.

For over 20 years, the current suite of dyslexia assessments has been used to screen for dyslexia and identify the needs of those at risk of developing reading problems. These assessments include the DEST (Dyslexia Early Screening Test) the first ever test able to predict pre-school which children were at risk of developing reading problems, and the DST(Dyslexia Screening Test) for individuals from 4 years to 84 years.

These world leading, gold standard assessments have been recognised internationally (with translations into 6 languages) because they look beyond reading towards the underlying cause of the problem, allowing a much deeper analysis and individualised support strategy – screening for success.

Headlines:

  • Global interest in dyslexia has increased in the last number of years and early identification and intervention is known to improve outcomes. The DST-2 incorporates the latest research on executive function, in a series of short tests taking 25 minutes which identifies risk levels in comparison with age norms, and produces a profile of strengths and weaknesses to aid support.
  • The DST-2 simplifies our current product offering by collapsing our four current tests into one test. By updating theory and reducing the overall number of items, we have removed manipulatives to simplify administration.

Important notes about this update:

  • This revision reflects changes in population and advancements in theory.
  • A nationally representative normative sample reflects the composition of the current UK population
  • The DST-2 offers a short-form assessment, suitable across all age-ranges, for the early screening and identification of dyslexia.
  • The test takes no more than 15 minutes to assess the key areas known to be indicators of dyslexia including Memory Span and Executive Functioning

  • Qualification Level: A
    (Can purchase only Level A products.)
    No special qualifications are required, although the range of products eligible for purchase is limited.
  • Qualification Level: S
    (Can purchase level A and S products.)
    A degree, certificate, or license to practice in a health care profession or occupation, including (but not limited to) the following: medicine, neurology, nursing, occupational therapy and other allied health care professions, physician’s assistants, psychiatry, social work; plus appropriate training and experience in the ethical administration, scoring, and interpretation of clinical behavioral assessment instruments.
  • Qualification Level: B
    (Can purchase Level A, S, and B Level products.)
    A degree from an accredited 4–year college or university in psychology, counseling, speech–language pathology, or a closely related field plus satisfactory completion of coursework in test interpretation, psychometrics and measurement theory, educational statistics, or a closely related area; or license or certification from an agency that requires appropriate training and experience in the ethical and competent use of psychological tests.
  • Qualification Level: C
