Career Discussion

This Programme is for you if you have a fair idea of what you want to do career-wise but:

  • you want an objective opinion
  • you have a doubt or two
  • you want to know what is the best way to go about it
  • you want to know that you have looked at all the possible outcomes
  • you might be interested in knowing what other options you have but might not have thought about.

In this programme you come to our building for a discussion of about an hour with our Occupational Psychologist.

In that discussion you are invited to give all the relevant facts of your background – education, experience of work, qualifications, on-the-job training; subjects studied with favourite ones and ones you were not too keen on; leisure-time pursuits – sport, music, art, travel, television, radio, cinema, theatre, photography, dance, gardening, DIY, cooking, investing; the type of person you are and so on.

Only then are you asked what you are thinking of doing.

The reasons for this choice are discussed as well as the advantages and limitations.

Our Psychologist then gives his opinion on your choice; ideas as to how to go about realising it and – if it is felt that it is not such a good idea – what alternatives you have.
